The Dark Side of the Rainbow

Words the will betray me.
Ultimately I am sick.
The notion strikes me as odd.
The contemplation drives me mad.
The reality is quite crippling
Yet somehow I am not so bad

Perhaps I should be, perhaps I should not
I studied hard the lessons of life
I have been held after class for daydreaming
And learned that dichotomy cuts like a knife

There can be no abstract without portrayal
No logic without myth
There can be no honor without betrayal
No without without with

Where once Angelic light
Bathed me in its gentle grace
Now there is an emptiness
A dark shadow across my face

So I the once mighty Yin
For your equally elegant Yang
Am left to laugh ironically
As a bell of atonement rang

Part 2: Rarified Air
There has never been nor ever will be
A love as sacred and unique as this.
Like a snowflake on a grain of sand in a crystal shard
This love is incomparable!

In the course of human existence,
Ever since the first atomic divergences
Spawned a biochemical anomaly
That would trigger an impulse
To fire neurons and secrete hormones
That ultimately forged the sensation of love
There have been no two alike.

None can be guided externally
Each evolving into its own being
(The sum of two imperfections,
Mixed with a catalyst of madness
And stirred into a heady cocktail of pure abstraction.)

Somewhere in the upper atmosphere
There lives an invisible realm where
Emotions transcend the physical and
Become the things that dreams are made of.

Neither founder can control
Nor completely comprehend
This creature that is born
Of this uncommon love.
