Caught in the Reign

The sky opened suddenly unleashing its blind fury
Darkness enveloped the day forcing early twilight
Caught unprepared a lone traveler is forced to improvise
Beneath the mossy cover of an old oak tree
This tourist in the Garden of Eden
Settles into a dank berth between the split at the trunk
Sadness rains down all around
The implications resonate
Desperation overthrows restraint
Yet he is compelled to stand fast
The torrent continues around him
The darkness swelling to abysmal infinity
Madness reigns all about
The situation worsens
There is no fear of doubt
Just a simple realization
That the storm will not subside
Despite the pleading and exasperations
The sun may never shine
When weather is possessed
To turn so suddenly against
The placid, simple world
There can be no recompense.
Only sadness completely unfurled.
