27226: Life Complete

The sad irony of death is that it is often hardest on those it leaves behind. Dad passed just when the burden of living became too much. We were ready for days, he was too but that wasn’t our decision to make.

You lived a life without regret, Dad, a life that may not be regarded with any historical significance but ultimately you accomplished life’s mission; you made the world a better place just by living.
You also left behind children that will forever echo that existence and honor it by living as you did.
You taught us that laughter was the very fiber of love and demonstrated that concept every day of your life.
You proved that love was a more sacred commodity than money and that family was everything.
You showed us that honor and integrity weren’t disposable notions and that duct tape could fix anything.
You were the quintessential handyman, content to work behind the scenes ensuring that the gears of our world kept grinding away.
You forged in us passion and selflessness that has a far-reaching impact. Everyone we have met and will meet in our lives are unknowing beneficiaries of your kindness. That gift, that you gave so willingly to us was there for you in the end as well. We were all right beside you physically or spiritually because you raised us to be together regardless of the circumstances.

The truth is you are not gone…you will live on eternally in every soul you helped mold. You will achieve immortality in the steady beating heart of my son and all the future Mannino’s to come. They will carry the lessons you have taught us onward forever, Dad…that is our commitment. That is your legacy.
