Have you ever seen the rain…

It’s raining outside right now…just a light sprinkling of precipitation and yet I can feel
the renewal commence. Nights like tonight make me remember the blissful ignorance
of childhood when a gentle rain was all the lullaby you needed to be carried into the
most serene dreams. Where you could travel into the verdant lands of fantasy with only
“which hill to climb first” or “which lake to swim in” as concerns. All too often we allow life
to streak by us with nary a concern with what it drags along for the ride.

Lately I have come to see myself as a man in transition. Only a year and
a half out of a 10 year marriage yet I feel so self-confident in the seductive power of
hope. I need only look to the shining, innocent eyes of my children to know that there
is always something good lying just beyond every transitional corner we round.
