Smooth Jazz

Two fingers of whisky for he,
Just one more glass of wine for she
Amber and garnet
Smooth and sublime
Just a few warm sips
To ease the passing of time

The evening rolls languidly by
Two become one in the dwindling light
Temperatures rise
Heart beats sync
And the sax of the jazz
Bring the couple to their feet

In a blur two bodies entwine
Her hand on his back, and his on her thigh
Heart to heart
And mind to mind
The beat of the moment
The most primitive kind

Deeper they dive into the night
Love and emotion mix together just right
One breaths out
The other breaths in
Both now exhausted
In this moment of sin

The smooth jazz plays recklessly on
The drinks of the night now hopelessly gone
But one thing becomes abundantly clear
Just one slug of whisky
And one glass of wine
Go perfectly together
Like sixty and nine
