From Hoax to Hubris

I am in constant awe at the continual recalibration of our moral compass to serve whatever fragile narrative we are pledged to support. From “hoax” to hubris to a rushed, unprepared, ill-advised reopening, this pandemic has been universally mismanaged by nearly every elected official up and down the hierarchy. Numbly posting numbers devoid of humanity to downplay your favorite politician’s bed-shitting veers well past the average apologist ideology and straight into desensitized moral relativism. Politicizing a crisis may be fashionable and score big points in narrow, myopic intellectual circles, but here in the real world, where every one of those numbers bears a name and a story of unimaginable human loss, margins of error and creative accounting only belittle their pain and further kick the aggrieved while they are down.
