So much life, so little time! So much to share but too busy enjoying it to share it. If you slow down long enough to collect and publish your thoughts, you miss something. If you try to keep up with the frantic pace that the modern world sets for its knowledge-thirsty inhabitants, you sacrifice the joy of sharing the enlightenment bestowed upon you, and the slender threads that connect us deteriorate further. We are all at once better and imprisoned by technology. While the toys of the day and the necessary tools of the digital lifestyle make possible what a mere decade ago was a fantasy, the burden of responsible deployment of this power is ever-growing.
We plug into the feed daily as if we are downloading life-giving nourishment from increasingly omniscient touch-screen AI overlords of silicon and superconductors. Our connection speeds have increased to the point that gratification is so instantaneous that we have impeded our ability to question, contemplate, discover, and solve independently. Rather than think hard or tax our atrophied brains, we rely on three curious, wise men: Gemini, Copilot, or Chat GPT. Enlightenment is seemingly just a few clicks away, but at what cost? Have we auctioned our souls on eBay to the highest bidder with no reserve? Have we traded our existence away for a few magic beans of imaginary power?
Perhaps we will find atop the beanstalk of the Global Digital Network a castle of limitless knowledge and countless riches, but remember that within these sacred walls lies a lightly sleeping custodian who is none too pleased with our decadent indulgence of the riches he toiled to collect. When he awakens, the walls will quake with his fury, and down will fall this house of digital cards, leaving us devoid of the enlightenment we briefly possessed and ultimately powerless to recover it.
