Murmurations

I woke this morning out of sorts
Unmoored from the rhythm and time
Dreams so unfeathered
My mind untethered
I went in search of the sublime

I left just before morning light
One small breath before daylight broke
The sun cleared the pines
And there were the signs
The starlings flew and I awoke

Their rhythm felt oddly familiar
A message stitched into the code
From distant and strange
Exotic forms change
Murmurations gather and flow

From chaos I searched for order
In fractals of shifting design
The wind set the scheme
The birds shaped the dream
All pulsing in measure with time

Ripples across the pond dispersed
The cycle of nature vibrates
Murmurations thicken
The tempo quickens
The dance of the starling migrates

I made my way home before noon
The frequencies still ringing clear
The birds set the pace
Of nature’s full grace
The patterns dissolved my last fear
