Analog Girl

Stubbornly clinging to pixels
Painted on the back of her eyes
Suspicious of runaway tech
That fails to fully satisfy

The world got complicated
A camera on your phone
All wirelessly connected
Yet we’ve never been quite so alone

Reluctantly she tries to keep up
Trading analog for digital beans
Though she’d rather be playing Atari
She’s dragged deep into smaller screens

Space-aged power at her fingers
Open access to every vice
Countless distractions posses her
She’d dream if she could only think twice

Each click renders the fantastic
Gilded realms of escapism
No longer practicing patience
Instant joy through a digital prism

Eventually the shine wears off
The dopamine hits subside
She struggles to find her footing
Where the past and future collide

Willingly now, she relinquished
The cheap in profound disguise
Surrendering the small screens
For the pixels at the back of her eyes
